Protective Property Wills
When a person goes into Local Authority long-term care they are means tested. If your assets are over £22,750 you have to pay your care costs yourself. Presently care costs are around £600 per week and the maximum benefit receivable is £227 – so you have to fund the difference – every week.
Too often this results in the family home being lost to fund these care costs. This Will protects at least half the home and possibly the whole house from being taken for these costs. It further ensures the family keep control of the property.
In the event a surviving partner was to remarry, this Will also ensures your share of the home will be safeguarded for your children’s inheritance.
